Course
Course codes for the purpose of credit hour registration:
1) PALAPES Army
  • Junior Cadet Officers: GNEK1009- 2 credit hours.
  • Intermediate Cadet Officers:
  • GNEK2009- 2 credit hours.
  • Senior Cadet Officers: GNEK3009- 2 credit hours.

2) PALAPES Navy

  • Cadets: GNEK1042- 2 credit hours
  • Junior Midshipman: GNEK2042- 2 credit hours
  • Senior Midshipman: GNEK3042- 2 credit hours
Training
ROTU Army

a) Junior Cadet Officers
  • Trained to the level of a Second Class Rifleman that includes subjects such as basic tactics, foot drills, weapons, staff duties, map reading, regimental matters, social etiquettes and general military knowledge.
b) Intermediate Cadet Officer
  • Trained to achieve the level of a Section Commander. Subjects covered include advanced tactics, weapons, foot drills, map reading, signal, leadership, military law, staff duties and social etiquettes.
c) Senior Cadet Officers
    • Trained to the level of junior officers capable of leading platoons. Subjects covered inclusive of advanced subjects covered before.

    ROTU Navy

    a) Cadet Officers
    • Basic skills related to foot drills, weapons, social etiquette and general military matters.
    b) Junior Midshipman
    • Leadership skills, advanced tactics, weapons, foot drills, signals, military law, staff duties and social etiquette.

    c) Senior Midshipman

    • Trained to the level of junior naval officers.

    TIME OF TRAINING

    a)Local Exercise ( 10 hours per day for 24 days)

    • Exercises are held every weekend at ROTU UM Complex. All officer cadets are required to attend all training except for those with special permission.
    b)Annual Camp Exercise (15 days continuous)
    • Exercise divided into two phases. Camp phase and Field phase
    c)Camp Phase
    • Academic test involving DS from PUSWATAN ( Wataniah Center ) and local units. This exercise is carried out around ROTU complex, UM campus and the Kelang Valley
    d)Field Phase
    • To demonstrate practical skills from theory learnt in lecture rooms by the cadet officers. For Year 1, they will train in Counter-Insurgency Warfare exercise while for the intermediate and senior, they will train in Conventional Warfare exercise.
    e)Advanced Exercise (14 days continuous)
    • This exercise usually includes military activities such as fire-arms shooting, compass marching and other related activities.
Allowance
Each member will be given allowances : 

     - Local Training Allowance 

     - Advanced Training Allowance 

     - Annual Camp Training Allowance 

     - Bounty 

     - Uniform allowance when commissioned 

     - Ceremonial Clothing allowances 

Basic military clothing and equipment is free of charge
