The History and Philosophy of Science course explores topics such as scientific rationality and scientific realism, the ethical foundation of science practices, the sociology of science, science and religion, and logic and critical thinking in science. Students with a deep-seated interest in historical and philosophical aspects of science and technology will especially benefit from this programme.
The programme is designed so that students have the option of two course paths, History and Philosophy of Science, and one of the natural science packages, such as, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Geology. This programme is an excellent choice for those who wish to combine coursework in the sciences with studies in humanistically-oriented disciplines.
Students graduating from this programme will have a more informed outlook on the broader aspects of science and technology, including social and cultural aspects and the impact of science on society. This is the only programme of its kind in the country.
This programme is a major in History and Philosophy of Science. Upon graduation, candidates will be conferred with Bachelor of Science degree.
