The following frequently asked questions are common among those contemplating University of Malaya (UM). This page provides answers to these questions and provides links to useful UM websites that provide additional answers.


How I want to request a Site-License from any intended software; such as SPSS, Matlab and etc?

For Staff;

  1. Go to UM Portal (portal.um.edu.my).
  2. Under Application Tab, click Software Request menu. Fill up necessary requirements.
  3. Please be noted license will be installed to UM computer (UM Tag).

For Student:
No site-license eligible for them. Kindly go to faculty computer lab to used any research software.

How I want to create Turnitin Account?

For Staff: Request of email can be sent to umsoftware.support@um.edu.my
For Student: Kindly go to UM Main Library for account creation or contact your supervisor / lecturer attach with.

Where can I find information about all software provided by ICT Center?

For Staff: Browse software.um.edu.my (Intranet)
For Student: Browse to Student Portal; myum.um.edu.my >> Software tab

Where can I buy Microsoft software licenses such as MS Office 2010 (Under Hedstart Program)?

For Staff:
Go to http://www.microsofthup.com and follow the instructions. For user manual, kindly browse to software.um.edu.my (intranet) >> eHUP. Finish the reading before buying the software.

For Student:
Go to www.um.onthehub.com to download the software.
