Environmental hazard from greenhouse gases (GHG) of fossil-fueled industries spur research into renewable-energy options and create opportunities for technology development and advancement. The Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic (MBIPV) project, co-financed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Global Environment Facility (GEF), and industry, is one such opportunity, aiming to reduce direct/indirect emissions of GHG by reducing long-term cost of BIPV technology through its increased and widespread use and through environmental and industrial policies, targeting by 2010, a 330% BIPV usage increase and 20% cost decrease. Successful achievement of these aims in Malaysia can be replicated in neighboring countries, collectively reducing GHG emission significantly.

Articular cartilage defects often progress to osteoarthritis of knee affecting an estimated 40% of people over the age of 70 in the developing countries and billions of dollars of loss in medical care and productivity annually.

This study explores the structures and processes that constitute gender in online spaces from a linguistic point of view. Gender in cyberspace is explored through various theoretical and analytical perspectives which consider both the discursive and visual performativities of gender. The study offers various possibilities of examining gender subjectivities meaningfully in the context of online communications as well as examining ways in which online participants use the medium itself both in terms of what it affords and its constraints to construct and reconstruct gender subjectivities.

The present study reveals that Momordica charantia extract has shown to have blood glucose lowering activities in fasted and normal animals. The hypoglycemic activity observed in this study was found to be significant and were validated with glibenclamide, the standard hypoglycaemic agent. The study also revealed that the effect of M charantia were very dependent on the age and weight of the animals and were strictly dose dependent.

A number of 24 samples of soymilk were analysed, 14 samples were from various branded manufacturers and 10 were from different stalls and fresh markets. The average concentration of phytoestrogen in general, was almost 2 times higher in the commercially manufactured soymilk compared to the samples prepared from stalls. However, these levels were found to be inconsistent within the respective sources. Lower levels of phytoestrogens in samples from different manufacturers and stalls may be due to differences in processing techniques, addition of more flavouring, dilution and less soybean extract.

Melalui penyelidikan ini, penyelidik telah mengenalpasti beberapa teknik serta kaedah keperluan seseorang pereka untuk menghasilkan rekaan dan binaan set sesebuah produksi teater pada masa hadapan. Penyelidikan ini mengfokuskan pada kajian morfologi untuk pengurusan rekaan dan binaan set teater di Istana Budaya. Produksi Makyong Raja Tangkai Hati di bawah arahan Norzizi Zulkifli dipilih kerana ia merupakan sebuah teater tradisional yang banyak menggunakan unsur-unsur metafora dalam pementasanya dan dipersembahkan di pentas Istana Budaya yang mempunyai aspek teknikal dan kecanggihan teknologi yang bertaraf dunia. Kaedah penyelidikan yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah kaedah kualitatif.

Oral cancer accounted for 274,000 cases worldwide in 2002. The high incidence in female is also observed in Malaysia where the female Indians was ranked third most common cancer as compared to the Indian males who were ranked fifth (Lim and Yahya 2003). Oral carcinogenesis is a multi-step process involving distinct genetic alterations. Despite recent progress in oral cancer detection and therapeutic strategies, patients still seek treatment at advanced stages of the disease leading to poor prognosis. Oral cancer is heterogenous and thus requires differing management/therapeutic strategies for different biological characteristics.

This research is concerned with how Malay women negotiate and imagine the foreign modernities through foreign soaps consumption. As a postcolonial nation, Malaysia has been negotiating with different kinds of foreign modernity in order to establish their homemade version. One of the platforms to articulate and imagine national modernity project is through the establishment of television in the early 1960s. Due to the constant multi-flows of transnational cultural text through satellite television at home, Malay women have endured conflicts within their active consumption of foreign soap operas. It cannot be denied that foreign soap opera has become one of the important sites for the negotiation pleasure of modern transnational cultural zone. Of special interest, this research will provide a clearer understanding of the negotiation and reinvention processes of foreign modernities and how it is dispersed in the local cultural setting within the context of Adat and Islam.

Kajian ini meneliti pemerolehan bahasa verbal dan bahasa bukan verbal dalam kalangan kanak-kanak sindrom Down (SD). Kanak-kanak SD menghadapi masalah memproses dan mengingati maklumat verbal. Pada hakikatnya, kebolehan belajar untuk berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa mempunyai impak terhadap perkembangan kanak-kanak termasuklah perkembangan sosial dan emosi, serta kebolehan kognitif. Kita menggunakan kata untuk membina pengetahuan, berfikir,menaakul, mengingati, dan berkomunikasi dengan dunia di sekitar kita. Terdapat dua jenis pemerolehan bahasa, iaitu pertama, menggunakan kata (bahasa ekspresif) dan kedua, memahami kata (bahasa reseptif). Kajian ini meneliti bagaimana kemahiran bahasa verbal disokong oleh penggunaan bahasa bukan verbal seperti gerak badan, bahasa isyarat, tanda, gambar, postur, dan sebagainya dalam pemerolehan bahasa.
