DATO' PROFESSOR DR. ADEEBA LISTED IN FORBES '50 OVER 50: ASIA 2022'

Dato' Professor Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, an infectious disease expert, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya specialising in HIV/AIDS, has been listed in Forbes magazine’s “50 Over 50: Asia 2022”.

The list, released on Tuesday, spotlights women over the age of 50 who are leaving a positive and lasting impact on the Asia-Pacific region.

Shortlisted from more than 10,000 nominees, it showcases those who are leading movements that are creating global impact, or have founded and running companies with US$20 million (RM84 million) or more in revenue.

Dr. Adeeba was named along other prominent women making global headlines such as US Vice-President Kamala Harris, BioNTech biochemist and senior vice-president Katalin Karikó, US House of Representatives speaker Nancy Pelosi, Bank of America vice-chairman Anne Finucane and Ark Invest founder and CEO Cathie Wood.

Dr. Adeeba established its Centre of Excellence for Research in AIDS, which conducts multidisciplinary research on HIV, ranging from clinical to public health and policy research.

She also chairs the Malaysian AIDS Foundation and was elected the first Asian president of the International AIDS Society in 2020.

In 2021, she was inducted into the World Health Organization’s Science Council, a high-level group comprising prominent scholars advising scientific and technological advances for global public health.

She was also featured in both The Lancet and Science publications in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
