Universiti Malaya (UM) and the Malaysian Institute of Property and Facility Managers (MIPFM) have formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Faculty of Built Environment, UM, to strengthen industry-academia collaboration in property and facility management.
UM was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment, YBhg. Associate Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Zulkiflee Abdul Samad, while MIPFM was represented by its President, PMgr Sr Haji Ishak Ismail.
The MoU provides a platform for joint research and innovation, academic and professional programmes, knowledge exchange, seminars and conferences, student development, industry exposure and career opportunities. The collaboration also focuses on emerging areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), smart buildings, digital transformation, sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.
In his welcoming remarks, YBhg. Associate Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Zulkiflee Abdul Samad emphasised that the success of the MoU should be measured through the impact, knowledge, innovation and opportunities generated through the collaboration, rather than merely the signing of the agreement.
MIPFM President, PMgr Sr Haji Ishak Ismail, described the MoU as a significant milestone for MIPFM and the property and facility management profession in Malaysia.
