STUDENT HEALTH CLINIC

Student Health Clinic was established in the year 1962 under the University and College Act, Act XIV. This act was then revised effective 30th July 1977. In 2002, this act was revised again to The Regulations of University of Malaya (Student Health Service Scheme) 2002. The Student Health Clinic is a unit under the Student Affairs and Alumni Department.

Monday - Thursday  8.00 am - 5.00 pm  
Friday  8.00 am - 1.15 pm
2.45 pm - 5.00 pm

The clinic is closed on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays

 
Patient Registration Hours

Monday - Thursday 8.00 am - 4.30 pm
Friday 8.00 am - 12.45 pm
2.45 pm - 4.30 pm

Note: Patient Registration Hour may closed earlier depending to the number of Medical Officer on duty

 
Service & Facilities

The Student Health Clinic provides the following services & facilities:

  •  Consultation and examination
  •  Treatment
  •  Electrocardiogram examination
  •  X-ray facility at the University of Malaya Medical Centre
  •  Reference and admission to the ward in government hospitals University of Malaya   Medical Centre / other IPTA Medical Centres
  •  Medical check-up for the purpose of scholarship and certain physical activities for  students
  •  Medical report
  •  Blood screening and vaccination
 
Important Information

Medical Report for New Students

All new students are required to do a medical check-up including a chest x-ray and submit a complete report to the Student Health Clinic. The Clinic's staff may refuse to accept the medical report if it is incomplete or if the chest x-ray has not been done. Failure to do so will result in the student not being accepted for treatment at the Student Health Clinic.

* Please note that medical check-up for new entrants can be done in the Student Health Clinic, University of Malaya also.

Guarantee Letter

Under the Student Health Scheme, all students who are admitted to government hospitals or the University of Malaya Medical Centre are to obtain a Guarantee Letter issued by the Student Health Clinic medical officer which is to be submitted to the hospital authorities concerned.

Hepatitis B Screening and Vaccination

Screening for Hepatitis B at the cost of RM20.00. Vaccination for Hepatitis B is also available at a cost of RM26.00/dos. All payments must be made at Student Health Clinic.

Medical Conditions That Are Not Covered By The Scheme (Following the University of Malaya Act under the Student Health Scheme, 1977) A member is not entitled the following benefits under the Scheme:

  • the costs of pregnancy test, examination of pregnancy and any complications associated with pregnancy, delivery costs, examinations for infertility, contraceptives, cosmetic treatment, coronary-by-pass, organ transplant, bone marrow transplant, kidney dialysis, treatment for AIDS, or any other illness or treatment which involves the same cost of treatment incurred by the illness or treatment mentioned;
  • the cost of any dentures, hearing aids, crutches, splints, orthopedic aid or any medical, surgical or dental appliances whatsoever;
  • any medical or dental treatment whatsoever, or hospitalization that takes place outside Malaysia, regardless whether the presence of the member outside Malaysia is at the insistence of the University or otherwise.
